Background and Trivia

  • Based on the 1971 novel of the same name by author Kaoru Shoji, whose name is shared with the main character.
  • In one scene, a young boy is watching Ultraman on television, more precisely the fight between Red King and Chandlar. Since this is a Toho movie, it's most likely footage from the 1967 compilation film, Ultraman distributed by Toho, that was released alongside King Kong Escapes (1967).
