On an expedition to Mondo Island, the submarine Explorer makes a startling discovery: a giant ape called King Kong living amidst a land that time forgot. The mammal battles it out with Gorosaurus and a Giant Sea Snake before the crew of the Explorer say farewell to Kong and return to New York to state their discovery. Meanwhile, Dr. Who, in a bid to find a way to mine Element X, hears of the discovery of the legendary creature. Having already constructed his own version, Mechani-Kong, Dr. Who seeks to kidnap the real Kong in hopes he will be more successful at securing Element X.
