During the mid 1980's, the United States and
the Soviet Union were experiencing what would
be called "The Cold War." Though no
fighting actually occurred, both sides prepared
themselves for a conflict with the two nations
locked in an arms race. One weapon that was born
from this period was the Soviet Nuclear Attack
Satellite. Hosting the most advanced in Global
Positioning technology, the satellite was equipped
with the most powerful weapon known to humankind:
a nuclear missile.
The United States did have a safeguard against
this in the form of Intercontinental missiles.
However, the US defense system was confronted
with a different purpose than protecting American
soil when Japan was confronted with an eminent
nuclear strike. A series of events, caused by
Godzilla's arrival at Tokyo bay, accidentally
set off the trigger of the Soviet Nuclear Attack
Satellite to fire upon Japan. The Japanese government
sent out a distress to the states, which was answered
in but a handful of minutes. Time crawled as the
two rockets approached impact, miles above Tokyo.
Luckily, the efforts of the Americans were successful,
and the Soviet nuclear missile was destroyed.
However, the radiation played havoc with the stratosphere,
and cause thermonuclear storms. Storms that would
give life back to the fallen Godzilla...
