Title and History

This game is known as Super Aleste in most markets, including Japan and Europe. It belongs to a series of games that started with Aleste in 1988 for the MSX system and Sega Master System. The MSX version was also later featured on the Nintendo Wii Virtual Console in 2008.

Super Aleste is one of the last entries in the series, with the last one, GG Aleste 2, releasing the next year for the Game Gear before a revival in 2020 for GG Aleste 3 that was snuck into a series collection. Like other entries, as the original Aleste was called "Power Strike" in the US, the title for the Super Nintendo version was renamed for its North America launch. For this region the game was called "Space Megaforce".

Super Aleste is the only entry in the series that Toho was involved with.

Story

StoryThe year is 2048. A giant mechanical orb appears in the sky and unleashes a crippling assault against the world's major cities. After the fall of the major metropolitans, the craft hovers over the jungles of South America. There, the craft makes marks in the ground similar to the Nazca Lines while it continues to expand and increase in power.

Earth launches an assault, sending fleets of Aleste fighters to take it down. The attack is met with failure, as the sphere's defenses destroy the ships. Humanity puts into motion a new plan, developing a singular craft called the Super Aleste. The Super Aleste is equipped for space travel with a wide array of weapons. Piloted by Raz with its advanced weapons handled by the mysterious psychic alien Thi, the craft is humanity's last hope.

Controls

The game has five control modes, with the last being a custom mode. Mode 1 is the default control choice.

Mode 1 Mode 2 Mode 3 Mode 4 Mode Custom
