Japan and US Differences
Released in the same year, the Japanese and US versions of Super Aleste are identical from their game play. The changes between the titles are cosmetic, altering music, sounds and cinematics around the game play.

Opening
In the Japanese version, the game leaps straight into the opening cinematic.

In the US version of the game, however, there is an added copyright screen. Visually, it looks similar to Super Godzilla with a blue window that features plain text appearing before the title screen. In addition to this, there is voice work that announces: "Space MEGAFORCE! Presented by Toho."

Opening Cinematic
The Japanese cinematic is slightly longer, showing two additional images. These cinematics include one of the pilot Raz and one of his copilot, a young alien named Thi. Both characters were cut from the US version, making the pilot more of a silent avatar for the player, and consequently they were removed from the opening cinematic.

Title Screen
In Japan and other markets, such as Europe, the game was known as "Super Aleste". When it came time to release the video game in the United States, a totally different title was coined as "Space Megaforce". This name change is seen during the title screen, with the two also featuring radically different font types. Beyond this, the colors are slightly different with the US version appearing less vibrant. Finally, the main game is called "Normal" in the Japanese version, and "Standard" in the US version.

In the original Japanese version, the option screen shows super deformed versions of Raz and the alien Thi.

In the US version, the characters are removed from the screen. In addition, the US version has one less musical theme in it and six less voice tracks.

Both games have five difficulty settings. In the Japanese version, the hardest two are called "2! Hard Rank" and "3!! Hyper Mode". In the US version these are shortened to "Hard" and "Hyper".
