Game Modes

Story
Choose between two monsters and battle side-by-side through the Godzilla Unleashed: Double Smash universe. Play this mode to unlock new monsters, art, and game modes.

Endurance
Defend yourself against an onslaught of enemies with one goal in mind... to destroy as many minions as possible. Get a B, A, or S rank in this mode to earn BGM, concept art, and 3D art. Points are determined by how many enemies you destroy, regardless of your health. The more enemies destroyed, the higher your score and rank.

Survival
Try to keep your health up as dozens of ruthless enemies attack you. Get an A or S rank in this mode to unlock monster bios and cheats. Points are determined by how much health you have remaining at the end of the mission. The less health you lost, the higher your score and rank.

To unlock specific levels in the Endurance and Survival modes, find and complete the chapters featuring those stages in Story mode.

Power-Ups

Life Charge

Energy-Up
Fills a portion of your monster's surge meter. Can appear in small or large sizes.

Life Charge

Health-Up
Restores some of your monster's health. Can appear in small or large sizes.

Life Charge

Life-Up
A rare drop that revives a knocked-out monster. This item activates automatically when necessary.

Combat Tactics

Combos
In order to launch your most powerful attacks and advance your rank, you must complete combos, which are a combination of high and low attacks exectued with precise timing. These attacks are executed with the B Button (Low melee attack) and the Y Button (High melee attack).

In addition, certain obstacles in the game require the use of combos to advance. During these sequences, as seen to the left, a series of three buttons will appear that will have to be pressed in order to recieve a reward.

Surge Attack
A monster has a blue bar called the surge meter. Once it is filled, they can perform a powerful surge attack by tapping the touch screen. The monster enters a brief period of invincibility as they unleash beam/breath weapon columns that destroy all enemies, and take massive damage against any bosses on-screen.

The surge meter can be refilled by either picking up Energy-Ups, or by destroying enemies with combos or their beam/breath weapons.

Rewards
Upon completing a chapter or destroying a mid-level crystal, the player may be awarded, depending on their rank or if it is their first time playing through that level. For example, getting a high max combo chain on a mid-level crystal may offer either a Health-Up, an Energy-Up, or about 26 seconds of invincibility.

Clearing specific chapters for the first time may also grant rewards, such as concept art or models.
