Coliseum

The memory card system for the Sega Dreamcast were called VMUs (Visual Memory Unit). These devices featured a monochrome LCD screen, sound and multiplayer gaming capability. A special Godzilla edition VMU, which came preloaded with a Godzilla virtual pet game, was released on July 30, 1998. The VMU based game featured 43 different characters. These ranged from well known monsters, like Mothra and King Ghidorah, to more obscure ones, such as Sanda and Maguma. Seven characters from the game were also original to the title.

This VMU game connected to Godzilla Generations in order to play a Coliseum mode. Once connected in this way, players could have their character from the VMU battle it out in 3D, similar to the concept behind Pokémon Stadium and the way it connected to the Gameboy titles.

Music

The title features music from Rodan (1956), The Mysterians (1957), Battle in Outer Space (1959), King Kong vs. Godzilla (1962), Son of Godzilla (1967), Destroy All Monsters (1968), Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla (1974), The Return of Godzilla (1984), Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II (1993) and Godzilla vs. Destoroyah (1995).

Trailers

Found in the "Generations Theater", the disc includes trailers for all of the color Godzilla movies released up to that point, which covers King Kong vs. Godzilla (1962) through Godzilla vs. Destoroyah (1995). Many of these will have to be unlocked, though, by beating stages in the game.
