Story / Tutorial

"Welcome to the world of Godzilla Battle Line! Command a team of monsters, and take down your opponent's leader monster!

The monsters [from the active deck area] will make up your team. To deploy a monster onto the battlefield, simply swipe the monster up. A monster will act on its own once deployed. A leader monster cannot move, but it will attack nearby enemies. Leader monsters can use powerful Special Moves."

The tutorial involves summoning Rodan, defending against Kamacuras with a missile, using Godzilla's Special Move and finally deploying Anguirus and defeating the opposing leader monster.


Player Rank

There are several different progress areas in the game for the player, including arena rank, season grade and player rank.

For the player's rank, this boosts the stats of the leader. That boost is seen in blue text next to HP and attack or attack range for the leader. For example, for Godzilla at player rank level 1 is shown as "HP 800 + 90". Oddly, the boost varies from leader to leader. For example, at player level 1 Godzilla 1989 gets +90 HP and +3 attack range while Mechagodzilla 1993 gets +100 HP and +5 attack. The boost for each subsequent level looks from an early observation to be an additional 10% on the HP boost and another +1 to attack range or attack. For example, at rank two Godzilla gets +99 HP while Mechagodzilla gets +110 HP and Mothra gets +121 HP from +110 HP the previous rank.

In terms of leveling up, this is done by acquiring rank points. This is done by leveling up a unit using battle pieces, worth 1 rank point, or acquiring a new unit, worth 10 rank points. Below are the player rank requirements.

Version History

Godzilla Battle Line entered a "geo-specific roll out" on April 27th, 2021. This saw the game released only in Canada and Australia, with a worldwide release to follow in May. However, on May 10th, 2021, it was announced that worldwide release was postponed until June. The game was then finally released worldwide on June 15th, although technically was available for download on June 14th. Below are the versions of the game, starting with version 1.1.0 which kicked off the worldwide release.

Changes

  • Added stickers and the ability to display them during matches
  • Added new daily missions to the mix that reward G-tokens instead of G-stones
  • Greatly reduced number of trophies lost for losing battles

  • Altered level up scaling for units, which used to be a constant +10% rounded up to certain stats for each level up - it now works off level tiers that also differ based on the how many stars the unit is and in addition 3 star and 4 star units start the game with inflated stats

Individual Unit Changes
*Please note that for the indvidual unit changes for 3 and 4 star units might appear slightly misleading due to the change in leveling. The reason is that these units get a bigger boost upfront and smaller per level benefits, with the exception of levels 2-4 for 4 stars. The end result for some is mostly the same, but others did get an overall performance uplift. To help illustrate this, the percentage growth is shown in paranthesis to illustrate when a stat is going above the norm. For 3 stars, the norm is around +46-47% growth for the initial stats. There are outliners, such as Godzilla 1989 and Mechagodzilla 1993 which in contrast to other growth levels got nerfed for their actual leader attack. Also outliners include Gigan 1972's unit attack and Hedorah's Flying Form attack, although the latter probably benefits simply because the attack was so low before it had to scale differently. For 4 stars, the norm is around +215-225%. Most don't deviate far from that, at best going to around +205% or +245%. Mothra is an outliner, though, as her larva and imago unit/leader attacks got huge buffs. That said, this could be simply a result of the prior stats being low.
