Description

A legendary machine capable of splitting apart and combining back together, Mechagodzilla fires endless rounds of energy weapons from its fingers and shoulders to subdue its target.

Powers / Weapons
Flight

Flight

Mechagodzilla is equipped with wing rotors that enable the machine to fly horizontally at high speed.

Rapid-fire bullets

rapid-fire bullets

From the mighty arm cannons of Gandharva, Mechagodzilla can rain down a rapid-fire barrage of pink energy bullets. The bullets slowly gain power over time the longer they are fired.

Rapid-fire-style beams

Rapid-fire-style beams

From the split "beak" of Garuda, Mechagodzilla can unleash two electrified streams of rapid-fire-style energy beams. The energy beams slowly gain power over time the longer they are fired.

Passive ally facility buffs

Passive ally facility buffs

When present on the battlefield, Mechagodzilla is capable of increasing the productivity of ally facilities and boosting their defenses. The defensive buff also applies to certain objects, such as SpaceGodzilla's crystals. Both buffs cycle in and out of activity for brief intervals of time.

Unused

Split into 3 units

Mechagodzilla is capable of splitting apart into 3 powerful machines: the high-flying aerial unit, Garuda; the seafaring unit, Naga; and the land-based unit, Gandharva.

Background and Trivia
  • Made its video game debut in November 2025 as a playable unit in the 54th season of Godzilla Battle Line, with the season aptly titled "Trinity Combine: Ultimate Mechagodzilla" to commemorate.
  • It shares its roar with the 1993 incarnation of Mechagodzilla from Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II (1993).
  • Veteran Godzilla monster designer Shinji Nishikawa was in charge of the design, which in itself is a revival of the scrapped Union Mechagodzilla concept from 1993. Despite having created reference materials that were used for the Chogokin Tamashii MIX figure, Nishikawa's aim was to bring Mechagodzilla's image even closer to the way it appeared on Noriyoshi Ohrai's Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II (1993) poster artwork. Some of the more noteworthy differences from the Chogokin Tamashii MIX design include:
    - Mechagodzilla's eyes being a deep red instead of yellow;
    - the various light ports on its body being a uniform shade of yellowish-orange;
    - the wing rotors having 16 blades instead of 24;
    - Garuda's split "beak" being articulated, capable of bending forward 90 degrees;
    - the length of Garuda's wings and "beak" being shortened; and
    - 6 connective tubes being present on the back of Mechagodzilla's head instead of just 2.
  • Concept artwork by Shinji Nishikawa, dated April 2025, was displayed at Godzilla Fest in November 2025. The art had several written notes to the Godzilla Battle Line game developers, such as:
    - Nishikawa's suggestions on how Mechagodzilla could function as a unit: appearing at first as the 3 separate units ("perhaps with a launch sequence animation") and combining upon sustaining a certain amount of damage ("a bright flash of light followed by a white-out, or something along those lines"), or as a sortie and appearing in a combined state from the start;
    - Mechagodzilla's wing rotors remaining horizontal when transitioning from level flight to a landing configuration;
    - 2 variations of energy attack suggestions for the finger cannons (the "rapid-fire bullets" [弾丸連射 - Dangan rensha] ended up being used for the finger cannons, the "rapid-fire-style beam" [連射っぽいビーム - Rensha ppoi bimu] was instead repurposed for the shoulder cannons);
    - the split Garuda "beak" being able to articulate, despite this not being a feature on the Chogokin Tamashii MIX figure, a creative choice to give the design more personality that could even be interpreted as it being a prototype [to Super Mechagodzilla]; and
    - some miscellaneous suggestions, such as decreasing the wingspan and Garuda "beak" length, and a change in the number of rotors and neck tubes.
  • When the unit was revealed live at Godzilla Fest 2025, the game's producer Takato Higuchi mentioned that while a combination gimmick was intended, it unfortunately could not be implemented. However, since the team was planning on moving forward with an "alternative edition" (units designated with a delta symbol), he encouraged players to "look forward to [the transformation gimmick's] possible inclusion in the future." He was also grateful to Shinji Nishikawa for being able to oversee the illustrations, settings, and special moves of Mechagodzilla, despite Nishikawa being heavily involved with Godzilla Galaxy Odyssey at the time.
  • In an interview shared on Denfaminico Gamer, due to the high positive reception of this Mechagodzilla's inclusion, this was enough justification for Godzilla Battle Line producer Ryosuke Sato to move forward with the "GODZILLA RE:BOOT MONSTERS" project, which aimed to introduce reconstructed movie monster designs as original monsters with a modern flair.
