After failing to reach Tokyo, some Juvenile Form Destoroyah ventured out into the Pacific Ocean, where they discovered the last organic remnants of Mecha-King Ghidorah still submerged on the seabed. After absorbing the monster's genetic information, the rogue Destoroyah would evolve into Super Dragon Form Destoroyah, a cross between two of the mightiest and most terrifying monsters, King Ghidorah and Destoroyah. What was once the Micro-Oxygen Beam has now been replaced by the Gravity Destroyer Ray, the merging of the deadly Oxygen Destroyer and King Ghidorah's potent Gravity Beams. Supplemented with energy blade-producing horns and even a chest ray, this Super Dragon Form was built primarily for one thing: killing any Godzilla it encountered.
Powers / Weapons
Gravity Destroyer Ray
From its mouths, Destoroyah can fire streams of purple energy bolts. Each head can target a different foe if there are multiple, or they can concentrate the rays on one unfortunate target. When struck, the target can no longer be healed by ranged recovery moves, though self-recovery or regeneration is not nullified.
Trident Slicer
A swift and bold attack that utilizes Destoroyah's horns, capable of slicing enemies with golden energy blades. In addition to nullifying ranged recovery moves, defeating an enemy with this move grants Destoroyah's next attack enhanced damage. It's possible to chain enhanced attacks in succession if multiple opponents are defeated one after another.
Destoroyah will typically begin a fight prioritizing this attack before any other.
King Destroyer Ray
Destoroyah's most powerful attack: its chest cavity opens and, after several seconds of charging, an intense beam of destructive energy is unleashed, causing a massive explosion and dealing tremendous damage to anything caught in the blast radius. Certain ally units also receive a temporary attack increase.
While the Gravity Destroyer Ray and Trident Slicer techniques are used more at close range, the King Destroyer Ray can be fired from a remarkable distance.
Godzilla-related attack modifier
When facing off against Godzilla incarnations and similar organic clones, Destoroyah deals even greater damage to these particular units with any of its attacks. Its King Destroyer Ray becomes especially lethal, doing nearly double its usual damage.
While this attack modifier is applied against Godzilla clones and transformations, such as SpaceGodzilla, Godzilla Evolved, and Super Godzilla, it does not apply to monsters that have mutated due to G-cells, to mechanical doppelgangers, or to species similar to Godzilla, such as Orga, Kiryu, Bagan, or Zilla.
Flight
The Super Dragon Form is capable of entering a Flying Form to cruise through the air.
Background and Trivia
Made its series debut in May 2026 as a playable unit in the 61st season of Godzilla Battle Line, in the season titled: "Threatening New Forms: RE:BOOT MONSTERS Arrive!"
Was introduced as part of Phase 1 of the "GODZILLA RE:BOOT MONSTERS" project alongside Biollante Harvest.
Most of its abilities are named and described within its in-game bio, to include the "Gravity Destroyer Ray" (グラビティ・デストロイヤー・レイ - Gurabiti Desutoroiya Rei), the "Trident Slicer" (トライデント・スライサー - Toraidento Suraisa), and the "King Destroyer Ray" (キング・デストロイヤー・レイ - Kingu Desutoroiya Rei).
Meanwhile, the mention of its Flying Form (飛翔形態 - Hisho Keitai) can be found on concept art dated January 2026. The two pairs of crab-like appendages on its hips angle slightly outward when in flight.
As revealed during the 19th GojiBato Summit YouTube livestream held in May 2026, veteran Godzilla monster designer Shinji Nishikawa was in charge of the design, with the game's producer Ryosuke Sato taking the lead on the "GODZILLA RE:BOOT MONSTERS" project and working closely with Nishikawa. Both men placed a high value on a sense of "authenticity" when approaching the project, delving into questions such as "Why did this character turn out this way?" or "What kind of backstory and lore do they carry?" while trying to ensure it all made sense within this context. In the case of the Super Dragon Form, the idea was to create a starting point within an original, existing story, then branch the narrative off in a different direction, where this particular form could have occurred being the end result.
The inclusion of the Japanese character for "Form" (体 - Tai) in the name was deliberate, with the idea being that the Super Dragon Form may possess a level of strength that stands on equal footing with - or surpasses - that of the "Perfect Form" (完全体 - Kanzentai).
While the "Tai" character is present in Destoroyah's other form names, it was specifically meant to echo the one denoting the Perfect Form.
Sato felt a sense of regret not being able to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Godzilla vs. Destoroyah (1995) with a new Destoroyah unit in the game, only having a variant of Burning Godzilla appear instead. As a result, introducing a new Destoroyah-themed unit was high on Sato's priority list. When thinking of how to further refine the RE:BOOT design, Nishikawa felt the only other monster that could stand alongside Destoroyah was King Ghidorah.
In an interview hosted on Denfaminico Gamer, Ryosuke Sato mentioned how he was immediately enamored with the Super Dragon Form's design. This coupled with the length of time a new Destoroyah unit was last introduced in Godzilla Battle Line were Sato's primary motivations for pursuing the inclusion of this monster.
Shinji Nishikawa recalled how Mecha-King Ghidorah was one of the very few Heisei VS Series monsters to still have its body after defeat, with it later being salvaged and used as a blueprint for Heisei Mechagodzilla. According to his thought process in a what-if scenario: "The parts of King Ghidorah that were not related to the mecha must have remained in the sea." In addition, early design proposals featured the Super Dragon Form with multiple crab-like legs, giving the impression that this was not yet a "perfect form" but rather an evolved version of the Flying Form that was one step away from that. The crab-like legs were later replaced with sturdier bipedal legs after Sato recommended some design refinements, while also secretly wanting to see 3D figures of the RE:BOOT monsters appear in the X-PLUS Toho 30cm Series line: "If we're aiming for three-dimensional figures, then I also thought it would be better to have a design [of the Super Dragon Form] where the legs can stand on their own (laughs)."
While Nishikawa realized there was some truth in giving the new form legs for a more powerful presence, he didn't want to make it stronger than the Perfect Form from the movie, which is why it incorporates so many elements from the Flying Form. By doing this, it helped balance out the might of King Ghidorah without diminishing the strength of Perfect Form Destoroyah.
In an interview with Shinji Nishikawa and Ryosuke Sato from Dengeki Online, Nishikawa described the challenges of creating a new form of Destoroyah incorporating King Ghidorah's features. Even just using three heads and wings created a strong impression of King Ghidorah, so Nishikawa opted to focus on retaining Destoroyah's unique characteristics. While some early designs for the Super Dragon Form had scissor-like hands and four wings (two large and two small), Nishikawa felt the hands made the design look too busy. He ended up repurposing the two small wings so that they could be used as "arms" when not in flight, essentially fusing the scissor-like hands and small wings together.
According to Shinji Nishikawa in an interview with Hobby JAPAN Web, he kept in mind how all of Destoroyah's forms were named (Perfect Form, Flying Form, and so on). He did not want to simply call this new design "King Ghidorah Form" as he felt that would be a bit much, instead deciding on "Super Dragon Form" since the title alone would be enough to clue in fans on how it was influenced by King Ghidorah. Nishikawa also struggled somewhat trying to come up with a color scheme, and since adding gold patterns on the wings made it appear too Mothra-like, he limited the gold colors to the tips of its claws and wings.
While this form was initially viewed as being a flying unit (since all the King Ghidorah variants that appear in Godzilla Battle Line fly), it was decided to instead make it a walking or "ground" unit instead, which helped emphasize the Destoroyah-like qualities in its fighting style. The inclusion of the belly beam attack was added as an "extra feature" for in-the-know fans to enjoy. These details and more were shared in a Special Conversation YouTube video featuring Nishikawa and Sato.
