Produced by Legendary Television, Toho, Safehouse Pictures, and Milkfed Criminal. Apple also provided financing, having negotiated a deal for the series in 2022. The live action show is set in 2015 following the events of Godzilla (2014).
Monarch: Legacy of Monsters was created by Chris Black and Matt Fraction, with directing and writing duties shifting from episode to episode. In addition, Duffield was an overall showrunner for the program alongside Jacob Robinson who is also an executive producer.
Through the agreement with Apple, the series is exclusive to Apple+ and has yet to air outside of the streaming service. It debuted on November 17th, 2023, with two episodes. Subsequent episodes were released weekly through January 12th, 2024. |
