What an awful, awful episode. Like some others from the mid-season, this story focuses mainly on one Gransazer, which this time is Taippei Mikami and his job at Sea World. For this particular episode, guest writer Tsutomu Kamishiro was brought in, who is probably most famous for his work on Appleseed (2004). Unfortunately, Kamishiro's idea of basing an alien attack around dolphins ends up being ludicrous at best and is easily one of the least enjoyable entries in the show, only out done by the stock footage fest that was Episode 25. The writing here is generally sloppy as well, with no proper explanation given for why the young girl Mayu has some sort of immunity to the Dolphin's sonic attacks. At first the viewer assumes that she is perhaps deaf, which is why she is left unscathed, but this proves to be an incorrect assumption by the episode's end and makes this aspect even more confusing. This episode also leads to some unintentional laughs as well, as it's pretty hard to keep a straight face when the military begins to discuss how they may be forced to use Youhi to destroy nearby aquariums. Thankfully, this one-shoter has zero importance to the rest of the series, and is best left skipped over as in its present state it seems more like Mystery Science Theater 3000 fodder than something to sit through and enjoy.
