Godzilla the Ride: Great Clash premiered on August 1, 2025, at Seibuen Amusement Park (西武園ゆうえんち) and will expand to other venues worldwide equipped with Brogent Technologies' i-Ride flying theater system. It is a follow up to the original Godzilla the Ride, which was set in the mid-20th century while the latest attraction is set in the future.
In terms of story, the attraction opens with GOOSE One, a drone from the EDGE unit (Emergency Defense against Gargantuan Encounter), setting out to track Godzilla. Its mission is to pull back so a mechanized weapon, Mechagodzilla Kiju Type 0 G Breaker, can take over. At the same time, GOOSE Two launches to provide support. Godzilla is quickly spotted as his dorsal fins slice through the ocean's surface, and the two drones open fire. The attack enrages Godzilla, who smashes into GOOSE One, nearly overturning it, before obliterating GOOSE Two.
GOOSE One retreats toward the carrier GOOSE Nest, but Godzilla destroys the carrier outright, flinging GOOSE One. The drone shifts into underwater mode, narrowly escaping as Godzilla pursues. After diving deep and witnessing the wreck of GOOSE Nest, GOOSE One bursts back to the surface and barely escapes the monster's snapping jaws.
The chase rages on until Godzilla is blindsided by a volley of explosions. Descending from the sky, Kiju arrives, landing onshore to challenge Godzilla directly. As Godzilla charges, the two titans battle it out as the GOOSE One is caught in the middle of the conflict.
The attraction is written and directed by Takashi Yamazaki, the filmmaker behind the original Godzilla the Ride and Godzilla Minus One (2023). |
