Following up on the previously released Skull Devil, otherwise known as Skullcrawler, Hiya Toys delivers again as this is a welcome addition to the ever-expanding series of action figures based on the MonsterVerse. This figure definitely captures the menacing qualities of the Skullcrawler in Godzilla vs. Kong.
Details
Hiya did an excellent job with the sculpting: the texture on the skin simulates the reptilian feel with scales and a shiny look to it. Articulation on the limbs allows dynamic posing, which puts across its aggressive stance. Being a scale figure, it fits much better among other Hiya MonsterVerse and Monsterarts figures, thus allowing exciting diorama settings. Its size is neither too large nor too little for the collector but still with the imposing presence a collector would want to stand out in display.
Articulation
One of the best features regarding Skullcrawler is the articulation: several joints in its legs, tail, and neck let the collectors reproduce several action poses. Despite the long limbs, the figure is pretty stable and great to display.
Accessories
Skullcrawler has few accessories, that is, an additional long tongue, which only adds to its already imposing presence.
Paint
The blood-red, dark-yellow, and black color palette puts across its stealthy nature. Having in hand both the Original and (GVK) Skullcrawler, I can confirm this is mostly a repaint of the previous release in a glossy finish with an extra accessory. Also, a minor detail, the membrane in the mouth isn't a soft plastic anymore and has been replaced by hard plastic.
Overall
Hiya Toys delivered another great figure targeted at appealing to both collectors and fans of the MonsterVerse. The Skullcrawler is not just a toy; it's a highly detailed, well-made version of one of the most iconic creatures in the series. Whether you are displaying it on your shelf or using it in some dynamic play, this figure will be sure to impress and is a must-have for your collection!
