HIYA Toys has outdone themselves with this amazing job sculpting, Skar King from Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire stands at 6 inches or 15 centimeters tall, and is highly detailed down to the texturing of his fur, battle scars, harsh features, and classic tribal white marks. This figure's body features less muscle mass than that of Kong, which gives its unique look. Identified by his orange and red hair color, white tribal markings, wicked expression, and battle wounds, he is one of the most remarkable memorable villains in the MonsterVerse.
Articulation
Given the figure's size, Skar King includes a surprising amount of articulation throughout the head, neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, torso, hips, knees, and ankles making for dynamic poses from attack modes to ape-like maneuvers.
Accessories
Skar King has three interchangeable heads (screaming, growling/smirk(my favorite), and a normal pose), three sets of alternate hands, and of course, his bone whip. The alternative head choices allow for individual posing depending on what a collector wants to do with their figure. For the bones whip, HIYA gave it a plastic build on a wire, allowing the bend that can be formed around what Skar King's striking and with its translucent blue crystal, which is a nice touch.
Paint
The paint application that HIYA gave to Skar King is surely one of its strongest and the inclusion of more than one orange tone on his fur, various browns with streaks of a little red underneath that, all blend great together. Even though the white markings on the fur, battle scars and details are paint app, each detail is cleanly done. This detail was even applied nicely to the crystal of the whip, which also helps give it the nice blue shine.
Overall
HIYA Toys has once again made an impressive statement in the EXQUISITE BASIC MonsterVerse line of figures. When you mix a stunning sculpt with great articulation options, a clean face and body options that result in an impressive and enjoyable figure. Although a larger assortment of accessories may be necessary to have more versatility in poses, the present collection of three face sculpts/three poses as well as three alternative hand sculpts and a wicked good bone whip are really top notch. If you are one of the collectors that have any of the other HIYA figures or MonsterArts from Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire, I'd definitely have a Skar King joining your collection. Plus he fits in nicely with Kong and of course Shimo.
