Jet Jaguar joins the Mondo line in the form of a six inch soft vinyl figure!
Details
Jet Jaguar’s design is by Mondo artist Tufan Sezer who gave him a more stylized look with a “bigger head than the body” look. It works for the figure and it balances just fine. I like how smooth the figure is to the touch and the ridges in the legs and arms look and feel great. The detail of the antenna on the head looks cool and the eyes give off an apparent illusion of transparency in the right light. I will say that I do wish they were more film accurate because those were more detailed. But, again, this is a stylized interpretation.
Articulation
I didn’t look at many promotional pictures of this figure until I received him, and I was surprised to learn that there was articulation in the head and torso - I thought that the only articulation was in the arms that can rotate 360 degrees. Part of my lack of knowledge is that although it looks REALLY obvious that the torso could turn, it was very tight and in trying to force movement, I felt like I might break it. But, I persisted and after a loud “CRACK!”, the torso was able to move. I used the same method for the head. It’s all very nice and you can get some interesting poses out of him.
Accessories
None.
Paint
For the most part, the paint is spot on and looks great. The paint for the eyes is a tad brighter than the movie counterpart, which is something I would have liked to be movie accurate. The paint in the lower torso isn’t perfect, however. There’s a weird paint crack around the arrow, and to the right side, the yellow paint overlap to the red wasn’t applied correctly. Outside of that, the rest looks great.
Overall
Jet Jaguar was a SEVERLY limited release, and just like any time Mondo does one of these “drops” to pre-order the figure, you have to be on the ball and you get very little warning. This is a pretty cool release and it’s nice to see more Jet Jaguar visibility, especially in this form!

Addendum 1: Medical Jet Jaguar
By: Chris Mirjahangir
Modeled after the Godzilla Island show appearance in which Jet Jaguar was a medic, Mondo has released another Jet Jaguar variant into their soft vinyl line.
Details
While it’s the same mold as the other versions, the mold itself in in a pearl white color. It has a nice shine to it but it also comes off as kind of basic as well. It is modeled after the Godzilla Island show appearance, so it’s a little hard to fault the design for that, however.
Articulation
The articulation is exactly the same as the other releases: Head can turn a little from side to side and the arms and torse can move 360 degrees.
Accessories
None.
Paint
There’s not a whole lot to write about here. The red paint used for the cross and the black paint used for the eyes are applied perfectly.
Overall
Your mileage will vary for this one. While Jet Jaguar looks how he did on the Godzilla Island show and this is a great homage, outside of that link, it's a pretty basic design overall. If you’re a fan of the show or just want to complete your set (or want something outside of the standard design), Medic Jet Jaguar is a welcome choice to your collection.

Addendum 2: Jet Jaguar 1973 Cherry Blossom Glow-in-the-Dark Variant
By: Chris Mirjahangir
A San Diego Comic Con (SDCC) 2022 exclusive, Jet Jaguar (Cherry Blossom version) is a rather unique vinyl figure.
Details
Design-wise, it’s the same as the other two with the exception that Jet Jaguar glows in the dark, which seemed to be a Godzilla franchise SDCC exclusive gimmick this year between this and the three Super7 figures.
Articulation
The articulation is the same as the other Mondo Jet Jaguar vinyl releases, with the head being able to move side to side slightly and the arms and torso move 360 degrees.
Accessories
None.
Paint
The paint is what makes the figure here with the gold paint mixed with the cherry blossom color. The cherry blossom color has various degrees of thickness on the figure with the being light on the lower legs and middle of the arms but solid in other areas. The gold paint is also mixed into the feet, which add a little bit of texture to Jet Jaguar. The paint on the eyes, for me, is the centerpiece. There’s just something about that color that makes the eyes look really cool.
Overall
While I like the color scheme and the extra glow in the dark gimmick, overall, it’s an ok release. It’s a fine piece to add to your collection and like every Mondo release, you have to snatch it up while you can - especially since it’s a SDCC 2022 exclusive!

Addendum 3: Jet Jaguar 1973 Golden Anniversary Variant
By: Thomas VanSlambrouck (submission)
While the packaging might come off as cheap, don’t let that fool you, it adds to the charm of this figure. The figure comes package in a retro style package with a cardboard header card and a clear vinyl bag so you can see the figure in all its glory. Most of the retro Sofubi Godzilla figures came packaged this way so I love how Mondo is trying to emulate that.
Details/Paint
Like the previous Mondo Jet Jaguar releases, the Gold variant is no different in terms of sculpt and design. The only difference I can see is that there doesn’t appear to be any paint applied to the figure, but rather they use a goldish/yellow semi-transparent vinyl with glitter in it. It's really an amazing figure that pictures don’t really do justice for. It defiantly looks a lot better in person.
Articulation
Jet Jaguar has four points of articulation. The first being in the hip where you can move the figure side to side. Then each of his arms can move in a 360-degree style, and finally the head, like the torso, can move from side to side.
Accessories
Much like the previous Mondo JJ releases, the gold has no extras included at all.
Overall
I want to state right off the bat that I’m not really a fan of Sofubi figures, however this one has really grown on me. Even though it’s basic, I really enjoy the “gold” design that, as I stated above, pictures don’t do justice for it. I think it’d make an amazing display piece for any collector, especially fans of the retro Sofubi figures.
