One of three destruction based play sets, with the other being Godzilla and one the Destruction City release that contains Godzilla and a MUTO. All are similar with small two inch figures and breakable structures that make them fun to play with and perfect for their target audience. As a bonus, inserted in this review is an additional video review by Godzilla: Rulers of Earth artist Matt Frank.
Each of the Destruction packs comes with a monster, a building, and one military vehicle. This pack comes with the flying MUTO, a blue building and a helicopter.
In terms of articulation, the winged MUTO's arms can move up and down. For some reason, you can remove the wings at the neck too which makes it look like the non-winged, female MUTO a little bit.
One drawback to the male, flying MUTO is that it won't stand up on its own. Trying to take this photo for the review, I had to lean it against my cell phone so it wouldn't fall over.
In terms of the paint, for the size it's well done. The MUTO has a cool red paint fade to them on the arms and there's no paint slop anywhere to be found on the eyes. It's nothing extraordinary, but for the size it looks stellar.
For the accessories, there is no paint to be found on them. The helicopter is a solid gray while the building is blue. That might look odd compared to the promotional images that showed a gray one, but does make it stand out.
In fact they look pretty cool when all three of the releases, including the solo Godzilla release and the Destruction city pack, are joined to form a city.
As a result of the wide range of colors, the figures look pretty impressive when all combined together into a single play frame like below (note, the female MUTO is pictured):
For a special bonus, here is a complementing video review of the toy as well by super star artist Matt Frank. Note, Matt has an alternate version that does contain the gray building rather than the blue mentioned in this review.
Overall, this release is fun to play with, especially when combined with the others. I whole heatedly recommend getting all three of the sets. Given the MUTO male figure is unique to this release, it has a bit more value than the solo-Godzilla one too as an added bonus.
As a side note, here is the Fact Sheet listing for this figure:
