Diamond Select’s Godzilla serves as both a cool looking Godzilla and a coin bank. Great for kids and adults looking for a way for take care of all that loose change.
Details
Although it’s supposed to be Godzilla 1974, it doesn’t much look like it. It’s more like an approximation. That being said, I do like the look of the bank - “puggish” face and all. The neck does seem a tad too long but I think it’s so you can get a grip on it for when you take the head off to get your coins. The arms are posed in a sort of attack yet defense pose and it looks pretty cool.
Bank Function
For the bank's functionality, you insert your coins on the right side near the top section of the backplates. When Godzilla’s full of money, pull his head off and put out the coins and that’s it.
Paint
The paint isn’t accurate to the 1974 Godzilla design but then again, neither is the figure and I’m ok with it. The toenails and claws are painted a darkish grey and outside of one claw, the paint is applied pretty good. I do like the silver of the backplates. The paint application here gets a little sloppy near the end of the tail but it’s not a big deal. The eyes are beautifully painted and they give the bank that ferocious yet friendly look.
Overall
Overall, it’s a fun way to change up the “normal” coin bank idea by making it Godzilla. It’s great for adults and even better for kids!
