One of the bigger size Godzilla items that Mondo has released, Midnight Bloom Biollante sure is a sight to behold!
Details
Biollante is extremely detailed. Almost overly. She’s done in the deformed fashion and she looks awesome. I love all the nooks and crannies of the ridges and vines in the sculpt. No matter which angle you turn her, she looks menacing. Biollante has 4 vines in various poses and they look pretty cool with their jaws extended differently (or not at all). Even the underside of the figure has vine detail!
Articulation
I would have liked it of Biollante’s jaw could move up and down, but the mold has it stuck in a static pose. Only the vines are articulated and the vines and the mouths can all move 360 degrees, but they do get looser the more you move them, so be aware.
Accessories
None.
Paint
The paint here is the star of the show. The mix of orange, blue, and purple all in metallic paint really makes the figure stand out. The paint is expertly applied with nary a blemish to be found. Biollante’s red eyes really help sell it as well. The placement of the paint on the mold is to be commended as well. I love the purple fade from the top of the head going back toward the rest of Biollante’s body.
Overall
Of all the figure/statue releases Mondo has done that I’ve reviewed, this is by far the best they’ve ever released in terms of color. This release was in the “drop” style so if you don’t follow their social media pages or check the Mondo website at the right time, you’re gonna miss out. I MUCH prefer this release to the more vanilla release that’s currently available on Mondo’s website. I was at Designer Con last year and I saw some pretty out there and cool looking releases like this one, so it’s best to keep an eye on Mondo’s website and socials for crazy releases like this so you don’t miss out.
