Formerly known as Towako
Yoshikawa, before marrying the president of Kimijima
International and taking her husband's last name, Towako
Kimijima is best remembered for her role of Chinatsu
Gondo in Godzilla
vs. SpaceGodzilla (1994).
Kimijima started
out as a model in the mid-1980's at the age of 19 before
venturing into TV roles closer to the end of the decade.
The actress was very active in the TV arena, although
eventually broke into film with a pair of Toei productions.
In 1994, she appeared in her only Toho movie with
a role in the 21st Godzilla film. Kimijima was featured
in one more movie, The Big Heartbreak by Toei,
before announcing her retirement from acting on December
11th, 1995. Kimijima did not bow out of the spotlight,
though, and instead became a supervisor at Kimijima
International. She has since launched her own cosmetic
line, called Felice Towako, and has wrote a book as
well, named The Perfect Towako Style. Her age
and continued good looks have led her to be an idol
for middle aged women in Japan, and she is often called
by the shorter Towako name by her admirers.
