Best known for her role
of Yuki Ichinose in Godzilla
2000: Millennium (1999) and Maki Origuchi in Library Wars (2013), Naomi Nishida began
her career as a model for commercials and
magazines before starting her profession as an
actress in daytime television. Her first feature
film role was in the 1995 Alpine production Ice
Blue. In the following years, Nishida
landed two separate roles in the 2nd and 3rd entries
in the successful Haunted School series
before being awarded with a "Japan Academy
Award for Newcomers" for her role
in My Secret Cache (1997), a role which also netted
her a "Special Jury Award" at the Hawaii
International Film Festival. In the wake of her
critical acclaim, Nishida landed the role of the
lead female protagonist in the Millennium
revival of the Godzilla series: Godzilla
2000: Millennium (1999).
In later years,
Nishida would go on to star in the 2003 TV series Water Boys, which is based on the Toho
film of the same name: Water
Boys (2001). In 2005, Nishida revealed she had gotten married while two years later announced her pregnancy. She gave birth on April 6th, 2008, while making the announcement that she would not stop acting, and continues to be active in both television and film. |
