Best known for
her role of Ryoko Amemiya, or Sazer-Velsou,
in the 2003 TV show The
Gransazers, Maya Hoshino was originally
born in England before coming to Japan to
start an acting career. Near the turn of the
century, Hoshino made her break at the age
of 21 with the 1999 movie The Yakuza Way.
Hoshino followed this up with two additional
movies in 2001, before finding herself at
Toho in 2003. With the firm, she worked on
the direct-to-video production Killers
(2003), which is comprised of five short stories
of which she starred in the "Candy"
segment, and the show The
Gransazers. Hoshino has remained
active since, returning for the OV of the
popular Star God show in 2005, and has starred
in several other TV shows such as Ultraman
Max and Chainavi.
