Best known, outside
of her music work, for her role as the title
character in Azumi (2003)
and Azumi
2: Death or Love (2005), Aya Ueto, like
most "idols" in Japan, specializes in acting,
singing and modeling. In 1997, Ueto won a "Judges'
Special Choice" award at the All-Japan
National Bishoujo Contest, which in turn
landed her numerous TV commercial appearances
and roles in various TV shows.
Ueto has been incredibly active since starting
her career in 1999 at the age of 14, and has
picked up numerous "newcomer" awards during the
early stages of her career. However, her work
on movies is relatively small, with the actress
called upon more for voiceover roles rather
than onscreen appearances, such as dubbing the
Trixie character in the 2008 movie Speed
Racer for
its Japanese release. |
