While a young girl, Hinako Myojin moves from her hometown on Shikoku island to the bustling life of Tokyo with her parents. Consequently, she ends up losing touch with those in her hometown, including her best friend Sayori. Years later, now an adult with a successful career, Hinako returns to Shikoku to sell their family home. However, she finds out that her friend Sayori drowned when she was just 16. The news, told by Sayori's former boyfriend Fumiya, hits hard as Hinako herself was actually saved as a child from drowning by Sayori. As it turns out, Sayori grew to resent her best friend after she left, as she wanted but was unable to move to a city. While learning about everything she missed, Hinako and Fumiya began to grow closer to one another. However, a series of events start to happen that lead them to believe that Sayori's spirit might not at peace, but actually returning from the land of the dead...

Background and Trivia
