Strange organisms begin to appear in the waters off Okinawa. Starfish-like in appearance, these creatures called Barem begin to viciously attack the nearby populace, able to fire an acidic liquid that can burn those who come in contact with it. The Elias, Lora and Moll, investigate while befriending a group of children that have recently discovered a small creature of their own called Ghogo. The Elias begin to realize the source of the Barem: Dagahra, an ancient beast created by a lost civilization called Nilai-Kanai. Originally intended to be a guardian of the sea culture through pollution purification, the giant Dagahra quickly turned on its creators and wiped them out. Realizing that Ghogo is also from this civilization, the Elias rush to find a solution as they call on Mothra to defend against the monster.
