Background and Trivia

  • Based on the character "Ruby Martinson" by Henry Slesar, who appeared in Alfred Hitchcock's Mystery Magazine. When adapted for Japan, the series was known as "Mysterious Robber Ruby Martinson" (快盗ルビイ・マーチンスン - Kaito Ruby Martinson). However, in the original story the titular character is a man, where as the movie changed this to a woman nicknamed Ruby.
  • The title of the movie, 快盗ルビイ (Kaito Ruby), could be translated a number of ways. This includes "Quick Robber Ruby" and "Phantom Thief Ruby", along with the chosen variant of "Mysterious Robber Ruby".
