Background and Trivia
  • The movie started as an OVA (original video animation), going direct to VHS video on March 1st, 1985 from Toho Video.
  • The OVA ended up being a surprise hit on the video market, selling 30,000 copies. The performance convinced Toho to give the movie a theatrical run, pairing it up with Vampire Hunter D (1985) as a double feature on December 21st, 1985. Noted on Toho Animation's site for the Blu-ray release.
  • An unreleased sequel was planned called The War of Dreams: Leda II (幻夢戦記レダ II - Genmu Senki Leda II).
