Background and Trivia

  • Toho submitted the film to the US copyright office on February 11th, 1967 with the registration number of PA0000704872. The movie was submitted with its international title, The Killing Bottle, and its Romaji title, Kokusai Himitsu Keisatsu: Zettai Zetsumei. Toho renewed this registration on August 18th, 1995.
  • Based on the 1959 novel Desperate Situation (絶体絶命) by author Michio Tsuzuki.
  • The fifth and final entry in the International Secret Police series, which started with Interpol Code 8 (1963).
  • Was originally going to be a joint production between Toho and Henry G. Saperstein, who worked with Toho on Frankenstein vs. Baragon (1965). Saperstein pulled out, though, and the movie instead became a co-production of Toho and Nick Adams Enterprises. Noted in Age of the Gods (self-published).
  • The Killing Bottle was dubbed into English at Titra Sound Studios in New York. Reportedly, actor Nick Adams' dialogue tracks were either lost or unavailable for this. As a result, Jack Curtis, best known for playing Pops Racer from the Speed Racer show, dubbed Adams' role. Mentioned in Japan's Favorite Mon-Star (ISBN: 1550223488).
