Background and Trivia

  • The production company Shirogumi originally wanted to create a film called NUE (鵺) that would have been about Japanese monsters. During development, though, it was realized that their vision would have been too costly to produce. This predates Takashi Yamazaki being brought on, as the concept totally morphed into a film about a group of kids finding a robot from the future called Tetra that could be produced at a more modest budget. Noted in an interview with Yamazaki found in the magazine Spaceship YEAR BOOK 2001.
