- Toho submitted the motion picture to the US copyright office on December 29th, 1997 with the registration number of PA0000889330. The movie was submitted under its international title, Izu Dancer, and its Romaji title of Izu no Odoriko. This complicates things as the earlier version of the movie from Toho, Izu Dancer (1967), has the same names for both its international and Romaji titles although has a separate listing in the US copyright office under PA0000704873.
- Based on the 1926 novel of the same name, Izu Dancer (伊豆の踊子 - Izu no Odoriko), by writer Yasunari Kawabata. This was previously made into a movie by director Hideo Onchi in 1967. Before that it was made into a movie by director Yoshiro Kawazu in 1960, although that version was made for Shochiku.
