Background and Trivia |
- Toho submitted the film to the US copyright office on December 27th, 2005 with the registration number of PA0001260319. The movie was submitted with just one title: House.
- For the period, the movie's production at Toho was abnormal for several reasons. First, it was actually brought up as a project through Toho Video, which was created at Toho in 1971. Kenichiro Tsunoda, director of Toho Video's planning office, was the one who championed the project and picking the relatively unproven director Nobuhiko Obayashi. Even though the project was going through Toho Video, this still upset other directors at Toho as Obayashi didn't go through the normal process at Toho Eiga of being first an assistant director to work up toward being a director. One director who voiced displeasure over this was Hideo Onchi. Noted in Toho Special Effects Movies: Complete Works (ISBN: 9784864910132).
- To promote the movie, a radio drama was broadcast on November 27th, 1976, on Nippon Broadcasting System. It was a four hour drama that was co-directed by Nobuhiko Obayashi and Osamu Ueno.
