  • Toho submitted the film to the US copyright office on December 29th, 2005 with the registration number of PA0001259342. The movie was submitted under its international title, Hearts in the Mud, along with a Romaji title, Dorodarake no Junjo.
  • Based on the 1962 short story Mud-Stained Innocence (泥だらけの純情 - Dorodarake no Junjo) by Shinji Fujiwara.
  • This is the second adaptation of Shinji Fujiwara's story, with the first being by Nikkatsu that was released in 1963.
