Background and Trivia

  • The Kadokawa Shoten Publishing Company submitted the film to the US copyright office on April 8th, 1992 with the registration number of PA0000569685. This registration contained the international title, Harmagedon, and a shorted version of the Romaji title, Genmataisen.
  • Based on Kazumasa Hirai's Genma Wars (幻魔大戦 - Genma Taisen), a manga that started in 1967.
  • Ryuhei Kitamura, director on Godzilla: Final Wars (2004), cites Keith Emerson's work on Harmagedon as something that moved him when he watched it. This eventually led to Kitamura selecting the musician to work on his 2004 Godzilla movie. Noted in the Godzilla: Final Wars theatrical pamphlet.
