Background and Trivia |
- Toho submitted the film to the US copyright office on August 18th, 1995 with the registration number PA0000704874. This registration only included the Romaji title of the movie, Satsujinkyo Jidai.
- The movie's English title is somewhat of an enigma. Toho's copyright registration for the movie featured no English title, opting only for the Romaji title. On bootlegs the movie has been translated as "The Age of Assassins", although this isn't quite a literal translation as "The Age of Homicide Mania" would be a more apt alternative. This takes us to "Epoch of Murder Madness", a correct if not artsy way to translate the title. The first use of this title is something that is still being tracked down, although it was featured on promotion material for Cinema-Kan's 2018 soundtrack release for the movie, seen here.
- Producer Tomoyuki Tanaka, fearing the controversial nature of the movie, held up its release for eight months before it was finally shown in Japanese theaters. This fact is found in the book Monsters Are Attacking Tokyo (ISBN: 0922915474).
