Background and Trivia

  • Although not involved with the original theatrical release, Toho seems to have ownership of the production from an early stage. This includes releasing it outside of Japan in 1970 with their Toho International wing. Toho also released it to home media in Japan. In addition, on January 27th, 1986, Toho and Janus Films filed a joint copyright claim in the United States for the production under registration number V2147P451-461. The title used was the movie's international title, Double Suicide, and the registration was a bulk entry that included other movies like Sword of Doom (1966) and Kill! (1968).
  • ATG (The Japan Art Theater Guild), who originally released the movie, would merge into Toho in 2018.
