When elementary student Shinichi Kawakami prays to a majestic family oak tree, he is unexpectedly sent back in time to ancient feudal Japan. He awakens in the province of Kasuga, right in the midst of a battle, where he meets the samurai known as "Demon" Ijiri. Although Ijiri is a skilled warrior, he struggles with his feelings for Princess Ren. The two have been friends since childhood, and she harbors feelings for him as well, having declined various marriage proposals in search of true love. However, when Lord Takatura asks for her hand, she feels compelled to accept for the sake of her kingdom. When Shinichi's family arrives from the future to locate him, they bring crucial news: the Kasuga province is absent from historical records, and its ongoing conflicts with rival clans have largely been in vain. This revelation frees Princess Ren from her duty to marry Lord Takatura, prompting her to call off the engagement. However, Lord Takatura, unaccustomed to being rejected, retaliates by declaring war...

Background and Trivia

  • Inspired by the animated film Crayon Shin-chan: Fierceness That Invites Storm! The Battle of the Warring States (2002).
  • Ahead of its release, lead star Tsuyoshi Kusanagi became embroiled following an arrest for indecent exposure. While drunk, the actor got naked in a park in April, 2009, and was confronted and arrested by police. In response, Toho momentairly halted all marketing for the film, pulling trailers, removing posters and stopped distributing fliers. Noted in Variety.
