The Toho Kingdom Podcast

Special Interview: James Rolfe (Cinemassacre.com)
Cast:
Chris Mirjahangir, Matt Frank and Noah Percival
Added: 12-23-2016
Length: 295 minutes (134MB)

In June 2015, Chris Mirjahangir emailed James Rolfe aka "The Angry Videogame Nerd" about joining myself, IDW Publishing Godzilla comics artist Matt Frank, and site staff member Noah Percival for a podcast. In addition to being well known as his Nerd character, James is also a noted Godzilla fan and really came onto the radar of Godzilla fans with his "Godzillathon" (a series of film reviews of the entire series up to Godzilla: Final Wars) and his Nerd review of some of the Godzilla games. Chris didn't hear from James until January 2016 due to his being "off the grid" while he churned out videos for his website, Cinemassacre.com in 2015. We then all converged to record the podcast starting in January. Over the course of the year, Chris cobbled it all together, edited it for flow, and added music supplied by James for the intro and outro. What was supposed to be a clear and organized podcast turned into a hangout and like any hangout, people do have a tendency to be a tad long winded or talk over each other. It's the longest podcast on Toho Kingdom with a run time of 4 hours and 56 minutes.

Recorded Across the Universe January 2016 - April 2016.

Notes:

  • This podcast DOES contain some sporadic swearing so for those who are sensitive, you might want to pass up this podcast.
  • There are some noticeable audio edits and other technical issues.
  • For a period of time in the podcast, Noah's connection was poor so it affected how he heard people in the podcast so he does talk over others from time to time.
  • Topics are revisited in the podcast.
  • Due to a signing, Matt doesn't appear for a portion of the podcast.
  • Intro music (Angry Videogame Nerd Theme) by Kyle Justin. Outro music by Andreas Hedlund.

The Toho Kingdom Podcast

Special Interview: Dave Filoni
Cast:
Chris Mirjahangir, Matt Frank and Noah Percival
Added: 03-04-2015
Length: 40 minutes (64MB)

Matt Frank, Noah Percival, and Chris Mirjahangir (edited by as well) recorded a podcast with Dave Filoni, Executive Producer / Supervising Director on the Star Wars Rebels TV show which airs each Monday night on Disney XD. Among the topics discussed are Godzilla (2014) and the infamous "Zillo Beast" episode from the Star Wars: Clone Wars TV show which was an homage to the Godzilla films. Below is a bio for Dave Filoni.

Dave Filoni Executive
Producer / Supervising Director, Star Wars Rebels

A diehard Star Wars fan, Dave Filoni realized a lifelong dream when he was selected by George Lucas to helm Lucasfilm Animation's Star Wars: The Clone Wars as Supervising Director. Exploring the many wartime tales and stories that take place between Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones and Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith, the series surpassed the rare industry milestone of 100 episodes and has won four Emmy® Awards – including winning the category of Outstanding Special Class Animated Program for two years in a row (2013/2014).

Now as Executive Producer, Filoni is leading the development of Star Wars Rebels, the highly anticipated new animated television series which premiered in the Fall of 2014.

Filoni joined Lucasfilm Animation fresh from another touchstone fantasy franchise – Nickelodeon's animated Avatar: The Last Airbender, for which he served as director, helping to further articulate the complex and dynamic world of the wildly popular series.

He began his animation career working as an assistant director for Film Roman's Emmy-winning King of the Hill, created by Mike Judge and Greg Daniels. While with Film Roman, Filoni also served as assistant director for Mission Hill and The Oblongs, both of which ran on the WB. From there, he moved to Walt Disney Television Animation, where he contributed in various capacities to series such as Teamo Supremo, Kim Possible, Dave the Barbarian and Lilo & Stitch.

Dave Filoni will be at the Star Wars Celebration in Anaheim, California on April 16th-19th! For more info (and tickets) go to the event's website: http://www.starwarscelebration.com/

Special Interview: Bob Eggleton and Matt Frank

Chris Mirjahangir
Added: 11-20-2011
Length: 78 minutes (177MB)

This is a very different podcast (recorded November 14th, 2011) as opposed to the others I've done and been a part of for the site. For starters, there's no intro and outro whatsoever. It begins abruptly and ends abruptly. Also, this is an edited version of the podcast, clocking in at 1hr and 17 minutes. Maybe some day in the future the MOSTLY unedited version will make an appearance on the site but that's not going to happen anytime soon. In this podcast, I decided to, aside from ask questions and occasionally chiming in, take a backseat and listen to what Matt and Bob had to say. Do take note that there ARE audio glitches in this podcast. They don't deter from the overall listening experience however. Enjoy!
