Possibly a mutation spawned by pollution, the Swamp Beast was believed to be a divine protector of the Bayou and its people. When Southern tycoon Dimanche opened a fishery and nearly exhausted its food supply, the Swamp Beast came for vengeance. Its activity prompted the arrival of H.E.A.T. and as they tracked its movements via N.I.G.E.L., it attacked them and a fishery. The behemoth destroyed the structure and nearly killed Randy, but Godzilla arrived just in the nick of time. The King of the Monsters battled the bizarre half-animal half-plant entity to a standstill. Despite the challenge posed by Godzilla, its mission to destroy the fishery was a success and the monster vanished into a sheet of thick fog as mysteriously as it had arrived.
Sometime later, it attacked Dimanche’s Mardi Gras cruise boat. Once again, H.E.A.T. and Godzilla intervened. In the chaos, Dimanche managed to escape via helicopter, but the enraged giant took chase with Godzilla following behind. All three arrived at the man’s luxurious mansion and were hit by his guards’ rocket launchers. The explosives did little to halt the warring beasts and the mansion was demolished as they crashed onto it. Overhead, Dimanche fired his own rocket from the helicopter but missed. Catching the Swamp Beast’s attention, the helicopter was hit by its mud blast and sent spiraling to the ground.
Quickly apprehended by H.E.A.T., Dimanche watched on as one of the monster’s loyal followers calmed it down the same way Nick could Godzilla. Only justice was desired, not blood. The threat to the Bayou was now over and the monster returned back to the waters, never to be heard from again. |
