Professor Teramura, his wife, and their son Hiroshi get caught up in the schemes of the evil Garoga aliens. Their child is implanted with an ESP transceiver and forced to do the Garoga's bidding, while Mr. and Mrs. Teramura are replaced by two silver Garoga disguised as them. Hiroshi is sent with a toy robot to secretly sabotage the Zone Family's Proton Power while staying at their home one night, but the scheme ends in failure as Hikaru awakens due to the noises emitted from the robot and tosses the toy outside before it explodes.
After finding Hiroshi unconscious out on the street, the members of the Sakimori household eventually discover the ESP transceiver implanted in Hiroshi's brain, and realize he has been under the control of the Garoga the whole time. Raita suggests the idea of following the signals being sent to the boy back to the Garoga's headquarters. Hikaru and Hotaru then set out with Hiroshi, and before long reach the house of Professor Teramura. Before they can enter, Hikaru and company are greeted by the disguised couple, who quickly reveal themselves as Garoga agents. Hikaru and Hotaru transform into Zone Fighter and Zone Angel respectively, but before a scuffle can ensue, the two silver Garoga merge into the mighty Moguranda!
Zone Fighter attempts to stop the newly-formed monster with rounds from his pistol, which proves ineffective, while Moguranda counters with a deadly flamethrower from its maw. Soon after, Zone Fighter grows to his giant form to take the drill monster on in hand-to-hand combat, where he gains the upperhand. However, the mind-controlled Hiroshi has a meteorite summoned to the battlefield, and the seemingly-overjoyed Moguranda destroys the space rock with eye lightning and sucks up the particles into its mouth, granting the beast a deadly red poison smoke and giving it an edge over Zone Fighter. Moguranda celebrates its triumph over the hero by burning a nearby neighborhood into cinders.
Thankfully, Zone Angel calls for back-up in the form of Zone Junior and Smokey. Zone Junior arrives at the Teramura residence and destroys the house with a bomb, releasing Hiroshi from his mind control and severely weakening the remote-controlled Moguranda. Zone Fighter takes advantage of the situation by blasting Moguranda with his Meteor Proton Beam and a barrage of his Meteor Missile Might, putting an end to the drill monster's reign of terror.
Many battles later, the Garoga aliens send to Earth a number of foes previously defeated by Zone Fighter in a brand-new scheme. At first unleashed at the Okutama Mountains, Moguranda and several other monsters are shruken to tiny size and encased in time-gated capsules, which the Garoga disperse across a neighborhood and the Okutama Mountains for a surprise attack. Unfortunately for the aliens, the Sakimori family is quick on their feet, and manage to recover the capsules for Moguranda, Shadorah, and Detragon before they could be unleashed. |
