One night, while Kong was tending to the wounds left by the Killer Chameleons, a hibernating leviathan off Skull Island's shore stirred awake. Perhaps sensing a worthy challenger on the island or simply desired to wreak havoc, from that day onward the Kraken strove to force the island's guardian into conflict.
Villagers were slain. Wildlife mauled. Its malicious intent beamed forth from the glowing coastal waters and yet no matter how it tried, the tentacled monstrosity could not force Kong into open conflict. Suffering and loss would not tempt his rival. Such an infuriating stalemate dragged on until the Kraken sunk two human vessels.
The survivors, desperate to escape an island filled with as many horrors on land as in the waters surrounding it, lured Kong to the water's edge, hoping the King would kill their only obstacle to returning to the mainland. Such an opportunity the Kraken did not waste so with his rival finally within reach, the leviathan initiated the long-awaited duel - a battle to decide the island's true ruler.
Even when forced into the element of his enemy, Kong's primordial strength could not be overcome by the Kraken's venom or electric pulses. Giant claws battered the King, merely for the protector's tenacity to once again overcome the odds. Trapped once more in a stalemate, the Kraken ensnared Kong and dragged him to the depths of Skull Island's coastline where the environment would ensure the horror's victory.
Desperation clung to Kong. Primordial strength failed against pressure and tentacle and venom. The Kraken's long-desired rule was nearly won, only to be ripped away as Skull Island's protector broke free with the help of a submerged vessel, taking two of its four eyes in the process.
Kong retreated to the sea's surface, luring the horror for one final round of their conflict. Yet for as imposing of a creature as the Kraken was, the leviathan's stamina was quickly fading compared to the fury burning within Kong. After suffering an earth-shattering barrage of lightning-fast blows, the Kraken's hopes of victory were finally dashed as it was ripped in two. With its body flung, it sunk helplessly beneath the waves.
From king's blood, the Kraken awoke and into the darkness of his own, the Kraken perished. |
