After foiling another Garogas plan for domination, the invaders let loose another Terror-Beast. Erupting from a monster capsule, Gilmaras was quickly challenged by Zone Fighter. The champion of justice didn’t seem to take the monster seriously and allowed it to chase him about, but his underestimating of the kaiju proved wrong. Gilmaras removed its horn and launched flames. Having to step up to fight the monster seriously, Zone Fighter rushed in and ripped off the horn himself. He turned it around and plunged it deep into its face, ending its ability to retaliate. Severely weakened and in agony, Gilmaras was soon dispatched with a volley of the hero’s Meteor Missile Might once and for all.
Powers / Weapons
Removable face horn
Using its finned hands, Gilmaras can remove its lengthy beak-like nasal horn. It never uses the detached horn as a weapon, rather it only removes it when requiring the use of its flamethrower technique.
Surprisingly, it is Zone Fighter who uses the horn as a weapon, jamming the pointed end into Gilmaras's flamethrower-spewing orifice.
Flamethrower
After removing its facial horn, Gilmaras can launch a steady stream of burning flames from the opening. Reaching temperatures as high as 12,000 degrees, the Terror-Beast was able to scorch even the normally fire-resistant Zone Fighter.
Torso missiles
Though not used in combat, Gilmaras is capable of firing missiles from its torso.
Background and Trivia
According to Toho Special Effects: All Kaiju Illustrated Encyclopedia, its place of birth was on the planet Garoga Baron (ガロガバラン星 - Garogabaran Hoshi), the homeworld of the Garoga aliens. While its subtitle is listed as being "Thorn Terror-Beast" (とげ恐獣 - Toge Kyoju), it is merely referred to as "Terror-Beast" (恐獣 - Kyoju) during its entrance in the show.
