Description

A mutation in the heart of America, the Megapede began to devour entire crops. Reports of the creature drew in H.E.A.T. and the team was quickly able to find its vast tunnels and leftovers. Soon, the subterranean menace appeared within the Indiana State Fair, threatening hundreds of lives. The team intercepted it, but their weapons proved useless against it. If they couldn’t stop it, the least they could do was track it and a tracking dye was hit on it. As they tried to lure it away, Godzilla rushed in for battle in order to protect his human allies. The King of the Monsters clearly had the size advantage, but the Megapede was far from helpless. It used its poison barbs to drive Godzilla back, but this tactic only worked for but a brief moment. Regaining his composure, the reptile smashed the insect through the fair’s rollercoaster. Electrical power lines gave the insect a terrible shock, but it refused to go down. Godzilla moved in closure, but the worm-like thing sprayed a thick glob of foam into his eyes. Temporarily blinded, Godzilla had no choice but to return to the water to clear his eyes, allowing the Megapede to burrow away.

When H.E.A.T. picked up the chase and began to follow it via the tracking dye, they discovered that it had metamorphosed into its second life cycle. Now the Megapede had become the Cicada.

Sound Effect

Description

Emerging from its cocoon, the Cicada took to the air and landed on one of Chicago’s tallest skyscrapers. It began to rub its wings together, generating an intense sound in order to draw in a mate. The sound wasn’t just unbearable to human ears, but was capable of shutting down all telecommunications in the metropolis. After a failed attempt at killing it with rockets, H.E.A.T. took a crack at it. Hoping electricity would be able to hurt it like it did the Megapede, they moved in via helicopter. Craven’s device worked for a few moments before falling apart from its overuse. Having another idea, Nick decided to try and use insulating foam to coat its wings.

Hanging by a thread, Monique sprayed the insect’s large wings the foam. Unable to make its noise, the insect reached out and grabbed the helicopter. Before it could destroy the craft, Godzilla’s roar caught its attention. Releasing its catch, the Cicada watched on as Godzilla approached its new home and began to claw at the base of the skyscraper. With the insect on top, the structure came down like a house of cards. As the dust and debris cleared, the battle between mutant reptile and insect raged. The King of the Monsters endured its hammering blows and forced the grounded insect toward the bay. Pushing it into the water, Godzilla took the fight to his domain where it stood no chance. Unable to fight back submerged, the Cicada was held under until it ceased breathing.

Toxic foam

However, the winged Cicada also showed the capacity to use this foam to bring down smaller targets such as helicopters.
