Description

Yet another scheme of the Garogas invaders was foiled. As they retreated in frustration, the Gold Garogas activated a desperate countermeasure: summoning a dormant Terror-Beast that had been sealed beneath a tranquil lake. The containment capsule burst open, releasing the golden teal monster Gelderah below the water's surface. The creature wasted no time attacking Hikaru, who was submerged in his Mighty Liner. As the vehicle rose to the surface to avoid harm Gelderah also gave chase. Rising quickly, the beast managed to reach the surface before the Mighty Liner. Despite this, the vehicle was able to quickly avoid Gelderah as it emerged from the water and took flight.

Circling above the lake, the Mighty Liner launched the first strike. A barrage of missiles streaked toward the golden creature, exploding against its armored hide. Enraged, Gelderah lumbered forward through the smoke, but the Mighty Liner swiftly maneuvered behind it, seizing the advantage to fire another missile salvo. Continuing the assault, the craft unleashed its proton beam, landing a direct hit to Gelderah's abdomen. The blast only fueled the beast's fury as its fanged jaws opened wide as it fired a scorching white heat ray, striking the Mighty Liner and damaging the vehicle. Abandoning ship, Hikaru ejected and, without hesitation, transformed into Zone Fighter to face the rampaging monster head-on.

GelderahThe clash then raged in the water, each combatant matching the other's might, until Gelderah's massive fangs sank into the back of Zone Fighter's neck, draining his strength. Pushed to the brink, the hero was driven onto land, where the struggle continued amidst the frightened populace.

Despite the searing pain and mounting exhaustion, Zone Fighter's determination to defend humanity reignited his will to fight. Summoning every ounce of strength, he countered ferociously by leaping onto Gelderah, forcing the golden beast to the ground. Zone Fighter then proceeded to hammer the monster's head with a relentless barrage of punches. Grabbing the creature by its antennae, Zone Fighter slammed its skull into the earth again and again.

However, Gelderah refused to fall. The beast fired a blazing white heat ray, striking Zone Fighter and knocking him backward. As the monster unleashed another blast, the hero narrowly evaded, regaining his footing. The two giants charged once more, their blows shattering the landscape until they crashed into a nearby building, reducing it to rubble.

Determined to end the battle, Zone Fighter drove a powerful kick into Gelderah's chest, sending it sprawling. He then unleashed a devastating volley of Meteor Missile Might, followed by his finishing technique: the Meteor Slice Shot. In a blinding flash, Gelderah's head was severed, its body collapsing lifelessly to the ground. The Terror-Beast was vanquished, and the Earth was safe once more.

White Heat Ray

White Heat Ray

From its jaws, Gelderah can release a white-colored heat ray. What this misty smog does exactly is never explained, but it was capable of causing a small explosion either on or within the Zone Family’s flying car. When the smoke touched the earth, it generated small flashes of light within the mist. The smoke didn’t leave any noticeable damage on Zone Fighter, nor did he suffer any side effects after being exposed to it.

Background and Trivia
  • According to Toho Special Effects: All Kaiju Illustrated Encyclopedia, its place of birth was on the planet Garoga Baron (ガロガバラン星 - Garogabaran Hoshi), the homeworld of the Garoga aliens. While its subtitle is listed as being "Red Brain Terror-Beast" (赤色頭脳恐獣 - Akairo Zuno Kyoju), it is merely referred to as "Terror-Beast" (恐獣 - Kyoju) during its entrance in the show.
  • The name of its "White Heat Ray" (白熱光線 - Hakunetsu Kosen) can be found in All Kaiju Kaijin (First Volume) (ISBN: 4766909623). The book also notes how Gelderah's red brain and antennae help it ascertain its enemy's movements, and that the spines on its back are harder than diamond.
