Description

A bizarre, robotic Terror-Beast unleashed by the Garogas upon the world, Garoborg was quickly confronted by the might of Zone Fighter. The hero tried attacking it, but Garoborg's electrical body was impervious to physical strikes. Twice, the hero was at its mercy. No amount of hand-to-hand combat was able to overcome it. However, Zone Fighter continued to fight on and eventually landed a lucky hit, striking its protective eye and brain coverings. The glass shattered and Garoborg dropped to the ground, seemingly weakened.

GaroborgHowever, it was all a play. When Zone Fighter grew in close, Garoborg attacked. Once again at its mercy, the champion of justice had a brilliant idea. He grabbed a nearby tree and utilized his Meteor Static Power attack, giving the tree a static electricity-powered charge. As the robot moved in closer, Zone Fighter touched the tree to its arm. The electricity within the tree was transferred to the metal giant and overloaded it. Severely weakened as parts of its body erupted from the surge, it bought the warrior enough time to unleash both rounds of his Meteor Missile Might. As the rockets detonated across its form, Zone Angel and Zone Junior aided to his attack with Smokey’s laser cannon. The combined assault was enough to fracture its body for a mere moment, exposing its innards before self-destructing.

Sometime after, Garoborg was reconstructed by the Garogas and added to the roster for their Terror-Beast army. It was shrunken down into a capsule and later released after the destruction of Kabutogira. Along with Jikiro and Spider Uros, the robot prevented Hikaru from transforming into Zone Fighter. However, such a large amount of extraterrestrial monsters drew the ire of Godzilla, and the King of the Monsters rushed into battle. While Smokey dealt with Jikiro, the monster king battled the other two. This allowed Hikaru to be freed from underneath a large boulder and summon the strength of Zone Fighter.

Rushing into battle, the silver giant met his former foe in battle. He wasted absolutely no time in dealing with Garoborg again. Holding it steady with one hand, Zone Fighter summoned his Meteor Might Bracelets and fired the missiles point blank into Garoborg’s body, blowing a hole straight through its mid-section and killing it before it could make any sort of counter-offensive.

Powers / Weapons
Electrically-charged body

Electrically-charged body

Garoborg’s body is constantly protected by a high-voltage current, the source of its energy being the power supply box on its head. When Zone Fighter attempted any sort of hand-to-hand combat, this charge was enough to deliver extremely painful shocks and force him back.

Sickle-like claw

Sickle-like claw

The right hand of Garoborg takes the shape of a sickle-like claw. It swings this crescent-shaped scythe wildly when attacking Zone Fighter, and at one point even manages to grapple Zone Fighter's neck, discharging a powerful electrical shock through the claw.

After its later revival by the Garoga, both of its hands are completely replaced, its right hand having one golden spike and its left hand having two.

Explosive mist

Explosive mist

From its control box, Garoborg is capable of emitting a cloud of explosive mist. While not overly powerful, it was enough to knock Hikaru off of his feet in order to prevent him from transforming into Zone Fighter.

This ability came into play after its revival by the Garoga.

Weaknesses
Glass coverings

Glass coverings

Garoborg’s eyes and brain are encased behind protective glass coverings. These protective coverings are not exceptionally durable and Zone Fighter was able to break one with a simple punch.

After its later revival by the Garoga, Garoborg's eye coverings are not reattached.

Current overload

Current overload

Garoborg’s body is unable to cope with high amounts of foreign electricity being introduced to its body. When this happens, parts of its body will actually blow off, including its hands and the power supply box on its head.

Background and Trivia
  • In the book Toho Special Effects: All Kaiju Illustrated Encyclopedia, its place of birth is said to be on the planet Garoga Baron (Japanese: ガロガバラン星), the homeworld of the Garoga aliens.
  • Its subtitle is "Electron Terror-Beast" (Japanese: 電子恐獣), as shown during its first and second appearances in the show.
  • For some reason, when later revived in Episode 25, the power supply box on its head is intact, though it seems to lack any electrical abilities. Likewise, its glass coverings are missing, and both of its hands are replaced by sharp golden stubs. There is no mention whether the Garoborg that appears in this episode a revived version of the one Zone Fighter previously fought, or if it is some kind of clone.
