A monstrous mutation spawned in the deepest reaches of the Atlantic Ocean, the Deep-Dweller became lost when it accidentally wandered outside of its natural environment. Taking up a new home closer to the surface and near New York’s coastline, the monstrous fish became agitated everyday do to the sunlight. Even at night, the creature relentlessly attacked any sources of light, drawing the attention of H.E.A.T. Upon locating the sea devil, the team was instantly attacked but saved by the arriving Godzilla. The atomic reptile battled the fish in a brutal underwater battle, but it became evident the King of the Monsters was too powerful for it. With a single blast of his atomic fire, the Deep-Dweller fled out of sonar range.
Keeping up the hunt, H.E.A.T. began to load up on chum and tranquilizers. They hoped to sedate it and drive it back into the depths from which it originally came. However, a greedy monster safari cruise liner had also gotten tangled in the situation. When the fish targeted the boat, the team had no choice but to rescue them. Soon, the fish attacked the Heat Seeker as well, once again drawing Godzilla into battle. As they fought above and under the waves, Monique fired the tranquilizer but accidentally hit Godzilla instead.
Almost knocked unconscious by the heavy dose, Godzilla was at the fish’s mercy. After several rams and bites from the predator, the tranquilizers began to wear off and Godzilla again hit the massive fish with his atomic fire, driving it down. At the same time, Nick, Craven and N.I.G.E.L. began to lure the Deep-Dweller back home with bright lights. Unfortunately for them, depth was becoming an issue. After going down too far, N.I.G.E.L.’s emergency system kicked to life and lights began to flash all over it, drawing the sea beast's ire. The Deep-Dweller turned, ramming the robot and small submersible. Now stuck between its scales, Nick and Craven were taken for a ride. The vast pressure destroyed N.I.G.E.L. and threatened to crush the duo inside the sub. Just as the vessel began to crack and buckle, Godzilla saved the day once more. He ambushed the fish, freeing the submersible from its back. He challenged the mutation, but the Deep-Dweller had no desire for another round with the monster king. It instead turned away and continued on its course, vanishing into the abyss from where it belonged. |
