Deep underground, a species of fungus had become heavily mutated. Growing absolutely gigantic in size, the creature began to feed on everything around it and left entire sections of farmland barren. When H.E.A.T. was called in, only Randy and Craven were able to answer. Instead of calling for the rest of the team, the pair decided to handle the situation on their own. Unequipped to deal with such a mutation, they became stranded in the wilderness and were forced to survive on their own. After numerous encounters with its massive tentacles, they were finally rescued when their co-workers traced Randy’s cell phone.
The tentacles burst from the ground, lashing out at the heroes and grabbing Monique. It quickly drained her of amino acids, leaving her unconscious before Godzilla arrived. The King of the Monsters attacked, but the sheer amount of tentacles overpowered him. They drained him of amino acids as well, forcing the monster to fall back. The rest of the team managed to drive the tentacles back under the ground, but the battle was far from over.
Armillaria was spreading fast and if it wasn’t stopped, it could wipe out the entire continent. With Major Hicks helping, they managed to locate its central core, but it began to move about. Lasers managed to sever its core from its tentacles, but they were still unable to kill it. However, Godzilla’s roar rang loud and he rushed it. He clamped his jaws around the fungus’ core and tore it out of the ground. He then threw it, making it land in the center of a barren wasteland that was once forest. Unable to feed on amino acid, Armillaria was helpless. It tried to escape by spawning tentacles to crawl away, but Godzilla quickly caught up with it and unleashed his atomic fire. The green blast incinerated the mutated fungus, destroying it once and for all. |
