Another of Malik's twisted experiments, the
giant rats were a offshoot of the doctor's use
of the growth serum on the local vermin found
on his island hideout. The creatures acted as
guard dogs for the doctor's hideout, fending off
anyone who should trespass close enough to their
location. The malice of the beasts is put to the
test, though, when the crew of the Alpha accidentally
stumbles upon their cave while making their way
toward Malik's fortress. The crew quickly rushes
outside, while the rats give chase. Caught between
the creatures and a pool of acid, McKenzie and
his crew are forced to unleash their flamethrowers
on one of the nearby rats, incinerating it, before
being able to fly off to safety.
