Description

By 2022, over 40 million people had taken refuge in Turkey, as nearly the entirety of Europe had closed itself off from those evacuating the devastated continent of Africa. On May 11th, the "kaiju" Orga appeared in the western part of Turkey and struck Izmir, home to the largest refugee camp. Because the city was so densely populated, the Turkish government hesitated to attack, and Izmir was decimated. Orga continued its rampage across the country into the capital city of Ankara before being neutralized by the Russians.

While the amount of dead and injured was officially recorded by the United Earth at only 1.15 million people, the number of unreported refugee deaths would have likely brought the death toll up to around 10 million. According to a correspondent report issued a month later, the way from Istanbul to Ankara was overwhelmed with refugees. While most were still clothed, a majority did not have any luggage, and the long distance trek left many tired and limp. Since the roads were also destroyed, entering Ankara had to be done on foot, but the scars on the city left by Orga could be seen on the buildings, and they would remain a permanent reminder of the terror that befell the country.

Some time later, informal records began to surface that described how a Russian fleet located in the Black Sea had developed biological and chemical weapons to combat and presumably kill Orga. However, there was also a testimony that these weapons were used not just to exterminate Orga, but to cull the number of impending refugees migrating into Russia due to the collapse of Turkey’s most populated refugee camps.

Though Orga was long gone, it would remain a topic of interest for future scientists. By the 2030's, theories on how humanity's greatest threat, Godzilla, might proliferate had become a subject for debate and concern. One theory was that Orga may have been a proximate species of Godzilla, or something that was derived from Godzilla directly. It shared this classification with the previously encountered "kaiju" Zilla and Biollante.

Background and Trivia
  • Its stats can be found in the Japanese newspaper Yukan Fuji Special Edition: Yukan Godzilla No. 2.
  • Though its movie appearance is merely a cameo, supplementary details were shared in the official tie-in prequel novels Godzilla: Monster Apocalypse (ISBN: 4041061814) and Godzilla: Project Mechagodzilla (ISBN: 4041063450). Both were written by Renji Oki with supervisor credit given to Gen Urobuchi, the lead writer for Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters (2017).
  • During its brief movie appearance, it appears to be charging its shoulder cannon behind a plume of smoke, which can be seen just before the camera zooms in past it. However, whether or not this would have fired a Rupture Attack similar to the incarnation from Godzilla 2000: Millennium (1999) is unknown.
