Much as I enjoy the mannerisms of 65' Goji (The Moon Dance will always be a highlight) I never quite liked the face it had. Beyond that I personally fell in love with Godzilla's redesign in 2014 and felt it carried an air of atmosphere behind each scene it was in...when it was on screen anyway.

Plus, that expression.

So I give my vote to 2014 Godzilla.

1965 is just a worse MosuGoji. In every imaginable way. G14 is an actually good design. Pretty obvious who wins here

Godzilla 2014 wins easily. To its credit, though, I do prefer Godzilla 1965/1966 over all the later Showa suits.

I tend to agree with this statement regarding MosuGoji. The one thing stopping me from picking GarethGoji is...the elephant feet lmao. At least I have a little time to decide.

I'll create the first thread in a second with the poll lol.

Edit: Created the first thread. Shortened the poll to two days for the first rounds. If people think this is too short, I suppose we could extend the poll. Wish I would have seeded Mosugoji a bit higher according to some of the comments. I really wrestled with where to place him lol.
Voyager wrote: Wed Apr 14, 2021 5:10 pm This looks interesting. Rooting for my Showa boys! Also, I believe you made a kistake. It's written '72-75- but it should be '73-75'.
Nice catch, updating it in the file, will have to upload a new main image for the bracket tonight.

Added in 49 minutes 15 seconds:
I didn't really consider how soon to start the next match. If we did them every two days, with 9 matches in the first round, it would take 18 days. That seems like a long time. I think I'll start the second match tomorrow, and add a match a day for the first round. That should take around a week's span, if people are ok with that. We can increase the voting time or time between matches as we progress through the rounds, if necessary.

Actually struggled a bit with this one didn't think I would but I gave it to '65. I found the Elephant stumps on this Goji just off putting plus his scutes just couldn't give him the win.

But, it was hard when putting it up against this 65 goji.
Now I'm worried with KOTM goji because I do like that one.

I fell in love with Godzilla 2014 design until 2019 came in, I admit that 65 is good but 2014 made me into Godzilla again, my vote is on 2014 Image

It's pretty tough as there are a lot of aspects to like and dislike with both, for me. I still haven't decided yet.

Well not like you have to decide today. Gave a two day window for a reason, use it to make your best judgement.

2014 all the way. It brought Godzilla back to Western screens in a spectacular manner and the details, movements and expressions are top notch. Plus gotta love the menacing golden eyes. I overall prefer 2019-21 but Gareth and Matt Allsopp knocked it out of the park with the first iteration.

I admittingly have a soft spot for 1965's Cookie Monster look and his grumpus expression but compared to the suit that preceded it the design definitely feels like a stepdown.

Honestly, this was hard. I voted for DaisensoGoji because I just find G14 to be weirdly proportioned (the spines and teeth come to mind) and it has really weird design changes, like the aforementioned elephant feet.

I accept Daisenso will very much lose this, but he’s a loss I can accept. MosuGoji and SoshingekiGoji I cannot accept.

MosuGoji is very obviously winning agaisnt Earth, and’ll have to go against 72-75 RIP Ultima...i love ya but i know you’re losing

Soshingeki i’m not so sure. It could go either way, really

All I know is that it’ll probably go down to Mosu, Bio, 19/21 Goji, and maybe Shin. It’s a tossup from there

Really wishing I seeded MosuGoji higher with all these comments. I really wanted to do that but felt like there was a preference for newer suits in recent years, especially with the younger fans. Shin Mania seems to be a thing, but not so much on this board perhaps. Surprised nobody has talked about ShodaiGoji or DesuGoji yet. Also think maybe I overseeded the 2001.

Anyways, ended up going with GarethGoji here, largely because of the dorsal plates. While I thought 2019-2021 was an improvement, I still really enjoy these dorsal plates. And that face. Wish it looked more like the SHMA in the film.

Personally MosuGoji isn't even my fav Showa Suit (That honor goes to KingGoji) but when it comes to seeding I don't think it matters too much. In the end the more popular suits will win the vote regardless of placement.

True, but if you seed to to where lets say Godzilla 1964 meets 1989 in the first round, and you have something like Godzilla Earth vs the 1967 in the first round, I feel like that would yield very strange results, though ultimately would probably not change the final champion. I think the 2001 will be the first high seed to go when it gets "upset" by the 91.
