Could you take a picture of that Kong with his arms up like in this publicity still?Shenanigans wrote:I've been really hyped over NECA's Kong ever since it was revealed, and I'm pleased to find that it lived up to all my hype. I'm absolutely in love with this thing.
Personally, I've come to regard this design as a nice "update" of the 1933 design. Not a quite a full-fledged "redesign", per say, but just a slight modification of the original design to bring it into the 21st century. I mean, the head's almost identical to how he looked in some production stills. NECA gives the face a bit more life - especially the angry one (though I personally prefer the other head) - while adding color and scars, the latter of which being a more "modern" attribute of Kong.

Man that Kong figure looks amazing. I really gotta get my wallet up!
Still kinda want a 76 figure too.

A guy who randomly stumbled upon this place one day, invested much too much time into it, and now appears to be stuck here for all eternity..and strangely enough, i do not regret it!

Here you are, good sir! I tried to recreate the image as best I could, so I used some more scale-accurate buildings, too.The Octopus wrote:

His proportions are certainly different, though of course of things must be taken into account as well, like the camera being pretty close to the figure in my pictures. Certainly captures the spirit of the 1933 Kong at least, IMO.

Anyways, I have a question for anyone who can answer - does anybody own both the Mezco 7" Kong and the NECA one? If so, can the shackles from Mezco's Kong fit on NECA's? I also wonder if he could hold that little Ann Darrow; probably not very effectively, but she may still be able to rest in his open hand. Not important, but I'm just curious.
I'm thinking about getting the Mezco anyway, eventually.

Eh I much prefer the model kit from several years back. Still cool Rebor is doing it.

Yeah that's the new Kongzilla, I wish they would have put more Godzilla in the face at least.

though I'm curious with the way they're doing the modeling because it looks like it may have some form of articulation (that or they just haven't figured out a pose for it yet)
